After graduating university in Boston in 2008, in the midst of the largest financial crisis the world had seen since the 1930s, I was completely lost on what to do next. The job market was in shambles. I had lived my whole life between England and Chile, and at that point neither seemed like viable options to go back to.

After analysing all of my options, I came to the realization that China was growing at nearly 10% that year, while the rest of the world seemed to be contracting. I signed up to a 6-month language course and a couple of weeks later was on a flight to Shanghai.
